Celebrity couples I adore need to stop splitting up.
Okay, not really. They are adults; they are allowed to do what they like; and sometimes relationships just run their course and need to end for both parties to be happy. But still!
Anyhoo, here’s the dish: Glee star Jane Lynch and her wife, clinical psychologist Dr. Lara Embry, Ph.D. announced yesterday afternoon that they were divorcing after three years of marriage. Jane released a statement to People, saying, “Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter.”

The couple met in 2009 at a fundraiser in San Francisco and tied the knot on Memorial Day 2010 in Massachusetts, one of the few states where gay marriage is recognized. The wedding was small, attended by fewer than 20 friends and family members, including Lara’s daughter, Haden, who was eight at the time (she’s eleven now).
As Jane requested, we’re not going to pry too much into the whole thing; we’re sad, but they’re both mature grownups, and we’re sure they’ll get through it. In the meantime, Jane is starring on Broadway in the current revival of Annie; check out her dynamite performance at the Tony Awards here.
All I can say, though, is that Ellen and Portia had better never break up. EVER. I may not recover from that one.
